Musical-Projekt:DasVierfarbenland

English Version:
We both know the musical
Fourcolorland since our childhood and have a lot of beautiful memories connected
with it- lots of evenings where we found ourselves singing the songs with our
friends or siblings. That is why it was clear to us that we could not do any
other than this musical with the children of Janssenville. The message of the
musical that is simply packaged but still very deep reinforced our motivation
to do it.
The Fourcolorland is about a country
that is divided in four samesized pieces each having its own color. In every part
only one color rules so that all the houses, the landscape, the things and even
the people have only one color. These structures are strictly watched by guards.
But one day a green child does not want to be green but colorful and discover
the other parts of the country. At the end everyone realizes that their live is
richer and happier when they are colorful and learn more about other colors and
different colored things e.g. pictured in the musical as other fruits. The
Intention of the musical is to show the importance of openness, tolerance and
integration what also has an important meaning for the children of Janssenville
as they will be the future community and have to stick together. Like it is
said in the musical so well: Together we are all strong!
The songs are written and composed
by Tobias Rienth (www.vierfarbenland.de). He is also the one who send us
the CD to the Philippines. Even though the first CD did not manage to make it
through the costumers duty, it still arrived through Evins mother. Equipped
with a rhyme- app we started to translate the songs into English. After
finishing the translation of the text and songs we began our rehearsals. First
we organized “try-outs” where we played acting-based games with the children to
show them what they can expect the next days. For almost one month we practice scene by
scene. At the beginning only a few children are interested in the rehearsals,
but as we practice more children join and even some approache us shyly and ask
if they can still participate. We are really impressed by the interest and the
joy the children and youth have participating. They are so motivated and put so
much effort in the musical that they even voluntary miss their favorite TV-show
Encantadia (a Filipino fantasy series) just to practice some more songs.
21.12.2016, 7pm we finally have our
presentation. After four tiring weeks fully packed with rehearsals and without
much sleep, the grand day is finally there. Our stage is divided into four
parts – the four countries: Red, Green, Yellow and Blue. The whole village came
together and the helpers get into their position ready to start. One last time
we do a warm up with the children and encourage them in their performance.
Everyone is higly concentrated and gives his/her best. At the end we receive
the applause we were hoping for. Happy and released we fall in each other’s
arms and end this wonderful evening with a shared meal.
We specially thank Tobias Rienth,
who sent us the CD twice to the Philippines and his support through mail, Kuya
Alberto*, wo constructed our backdrop within one day, our hostmother for the
loud and energetic help during our practices and for helping us organizing a
soundsystem, NAPOKALA for lending us the soundsystem and of course the Youth
Group of Janssenville for the incredibly good props. Our special thanks also go
to all the participating children, who brought our idea to love and put all
their motivation and energy into the musical. Without you it would not have
been such a success!
